For the past three months, Airoverse & DMI welcomed students from the Upper St. Clair School District (USCSD) to work on projects as part of their STEAM class, a problem-solving and consulting course. The program gives students the opportunity to work on real business challenges for real companies, and DMI was proud to be one of their industry partners.
From January–March, eight students worked with DMI teams across our Safety, Quality, and Engineering Departments, and Airoverse business unit. Over the course of eight weeks, the students met to research problems, collaborate with DMI team members, and develop proposed solutions.

The students worked in groups of two on the following projects, with each tied directly to DMI operations and future initiatives:

On March 17, the students visited Airoverse and DMI’s Charleroi offices to deliver formal presentations on their findings and recommendations. Each team presented its work and fielded questions, giving them valuable experience in professional communication, critical thinking, and technical problem-solving.

This partnership allowed students to experience what it’s like to function as consultants, working through ambiguous problems, engaging with Airoverse and DMI team members, and presenting to a professional audience. At the same time, Airoverse and DMI benefited from fresh perspectives and thoughtful ideas applied to real challenges across multiple functions.

We look forward to continuing to explore opportunities like this that connect education, innovation, and hands-on learning.
